Eva M. Ewing, CIH

/ Senior Industrial Hygienist

Ms. Eva M. Ewing is certified in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. Eva is a past president of both the Environmental Information Association (EIA) and the Georgia section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). She was instrumental in starting the ASTM subcommittee D22.08 on mold analysis and served as its first chair. Eva earned a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Master of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from Oklahoma State University.

As Senior Industrial Hygienist at Compass Environmental, Inc., Ms. Ewing is responsible for developing and conducting industrial hygiene and environmental consultation services. Ms. Ewing’s specific project experience includes asbestos and lead detection, hazard evaluation and control; indoor air quality investigations; microbial contamination studies; industrial hygiene field investigations and audits; development of OSHA compliance programs; adult education in environmental issues; and environmental site assessments.

Formerly, as the Director of the Environmental Institute, Ms. Ewing researched industry training needs, and developed and directed over 300 courses involving over 5000 students. She was also project director for the development of the EPA Model Curriculum for the Design of Asbestos Abatement Projects. Ms. Ewing worked with the National Asbestos Council as Director of the OSHA and EPA sponsored Asbestos Abatement Worker Training Program. At Georgia Tech, Ms. Ewing directed the EPA-sponsored Asbestos Information center and participated in the development of the EPA Model Curriculum for Asbestos Inspectors and Management Planners. Ms. Ewing is a frequent instructor in environmental health and safety training courses presented by The Environmental Institute and Georgia Tech Research Institute.
